Die Arbeit thematisiert die existentielle Rolle des Bieres für die Entstehung der Geraer Höhler indem es den sonst im verborgenen stattfindenden Herstellungsprozess des Bieres mit einem Mikroskop und einem Projektor sichtbar macht. Der Aufbau der Installation mit einem Durchflusskammersystem, das mit einer Peristaltikpumpe betrieben wird, erlaubt eine Darstellung der Gärung in „real-time“, wodurch sich die Arbeit laufend verändert. Im Labor, dem Herzstück der Licht- und Soundinstallation werden Daten der mikroskopischen Bilder der Hefezellen-Aktivitäten mit der Open-Source Software R, die für statistische Berechnungen und Grafiken entwickelt wurde, analysiert und sonifiziert, wodurch die Besucher in den Mikrokosmos der Einzeller eintauchen können. Die Hefezellen lösen eigenständig Klänge aus.

The work deals with the existential role of beer in the development of the Geraer Höhler by visualizing the otherwise secretive production process of beer with a microscope and a projector. The construction of the installation consists of a flow chamber system, which is operated with a peristaltic pump. It allows a representation of the fermentation in „real-time“, whereby the work constantly changes. In the laboratory, the heart of the light and sound installation, data from the microscopic images of yeast cell activity are analyzed and sonicated using the open-source software R, developed for statistical calculations and graphics, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the microcosm of single-cell organisms. The yeast cells trigger sounds independently.
